Branson
We are taking a trip to Branson June 17-22, 2007. We will be traveling with a family who has four young children. Budget is a bit tight with them and wondering what might be fun to do during the day without breaking the bank. Also, appreciate some shows for this older couple to do in the evening - any price - so we can enjoy time without the little ones?

There is a ton to do in Branson wihtout breaking the bank -- mini golf, batting cages, go-karts. I think there is some sort of boat tour of the dam.
In regards to shows -- I haven't been to any (even though I'v been to the area a dozen or so times) so I can't help out there. But there are a ton. Mostly country music or comedy. I've heard a lot of people like Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede (and that has dinner). |
Don't rule out spending some time in Springfield which is the bigger city 30 min. from Branson. It is the home of Bass Pro (original) and a wonderful wildlife museum. Bass Pro is free! There is also an attraction called "Fantastic Caverens".
Brad Pitt is from Springfield, and donated to the 'Discovery Center' which is FOR children. Look it up, Have fun! |
Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery
is free and great for kids. You can also print out discount tickets at http://www.branson.com/ |
My grandchildren really had fun riding on the Ducks. And the two favorite shows for us was Shoji Tabuchi and Yahov Smirnoff.

For shows I like "Lost in the 50's" show. Roy Rogers Museum and show is good. Kirby Van Birch also good choice (children welcome). For kids, there is daytime Silver Dollar City Theme Park and then evening is the nighttime theme park in Branson. Imax theater. For shopping downtown Dick's 5 and Dime is my favorite! Also, fairly new is Branson Landing downtown...lots of restaurants and stores. In the middle of Branson on the left is a shopping area with Christmas shop and a very good 50's diner. Across from Dixie Stampede is American Bandstand Theater and diner. Turn left off of Highway 76 onto 165 and go to the Winery and further down is the Chateau on the Lake. Nice for pictures! Have fun!
