Brandywine valley

I am planning to visit Brandywine Valley in early June....We are two older female friends and will probably spend 3 days there....I will be driving down from NYC. I would like some suggestions for hotels or motels in the area...
Thank you
SPSand

I hope someone responds to your question as 3 of us are planning a similar trip at the end of June! What is there to see and do? Help!!

Budget? Required amenities? Desired amenities? Type of lodging?

Unless and until we are given the vaguest idea of what you are hoping to experience during your visit, this is the best I can offer. There are several things *I* would enjoy doing that you would find a complete and total bore, and vice versa.

If you are looking for a B&B, there is a Brandywine Valley B&B Association to help you with choices. Some names might include the Inn at Montchanin (just outside Winterthur's gates), & the Fairview Inn, but there are many others. Many visitors choose from among the Concord Pike Hotels - all very convenient to Brandywine Valley sites. The Grand Dame is of course the Hotel du Pont.

What is there to see & do??? Oh MY! Start with Winterthur Museum & Country Estate - & DO spend the day rather than just a morning or afternoon. Longwood, the Brandywine Conservancy - you are spoiled for choice in a long weekend.

Please note that visits at the end of June & into the summer will not show some gardens at their peak. Longwood's annuals are always showy, but Mt Cuba & Winterthur are showing textures of green at that time of the year rather than loads of color. Don't overlook Nemours - & book your tour ahead there.

spsand and travelready1 are you still planning this trip? If so, squeeze in Old New Castle,DE, about 30 minutes south.

Yes. Wintherthur and Longwood and New Castle. And the Wyeth Museum in Chadd's Ford. If you are interested, the Longwood Meeting House (Quaker) in Kennett Square was a major center for abolitionist and women's rights advocates, including Lucretia Mott Coffin, who was born in Nantucket, where I live.

A great area and a nice time to visit.

Kennett Square is a darling town worth a visit. There is a great tea shop there.

Longwood Gardens has a light installation which begins June 9 - that looks incredible I would definitely check that out.

Sorry I do not know hotels in there as it is within driving distance so no personal experience.
