Brandywine and WIlmington

Going to see Wyeth exhibits in Philadelphia, Wilington, Del., and the Brandywine Valley. I need some housing recommendations for the River Museum vicinity in Brandywine and the Wilmington art museum. Any experts? TIA.

Wish I could help you with lodging but I no longer live near the area but wanted to make sure if you're a fan of Wyeth that you're aware of the Brandywine River Museum.

Assuming that housing means hotel, there are several hotels on route 202 aka Concord Pike in north Wilmington. There's a Doubletree, Homewood Suites, Marriott Courtyard and MacIntosh Inn all within a few feet of each other. There are many chain restaurants i.e. Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Applebees, etc within walking distance of those hotels. If you're more budget minded, there's also a Days Inn, Best Western and Holiday Inn (motel type building) located on 202 with restaurants within walking distance.

Northbound route 202 intersects with route 1 for the Brandywine River museum. Southbound 202 ramps to I-95 for Philadelphia and it's also the route to get to the Delaware Art Museum.

I don't recommend staying in a hotel in downtown Wilmington. You'd have to pay for parking and it's a virtual ghost town after 6pm. If you're visiting the Brandywine River museum, you may as well visit Longwood Gardens since it's just a few miles up the street.

Check out Whitewing Farm in Kennet Sqaure.

Whitewing Farm is really lovely. I saw it on a house tour a couple of years ago. Also, I've heard good things about Fairville Inn on Route 52.

Van Ness, you already received several suggestions. Are none of them to your taste, or are they booked? To top the post with no more info isn't really helpful.

Sorry, that was impolite of me. I am looking at some of the suggestions, and I greatly thank those who helped!

Van_Ness, where did you choose to stay? I'm not going soon, but appreciated the recs, espcially the Fairville Inn - looks lovely. Like Whitewing Farm too, but they only take cash, which at that price point is just snooty! Let us know how your trip was!
