We took our kids at that same time of year when they were 5,8, and 11. We all had a wonderful trip. There are some horsebacking riding opportunities in the Roosevelt part of the park. Just be sure to take jackets and maybe even gloves. We were not prepared for how cold it was a times. Layers, layers, layers. Also rain slickers are a good idea.
