Bowery restaurants
My wife and I have tix to the Amato Opera Company, 319 Bowery. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant within walking distance?

Two come to mind, Chez Es Saada on 1st St and 1st Ave is a very exotic French-Moroccon.
Il Buco at 47 Bond St. is nice Mediterranean style restaurant. It used to be one of favorite haunts and for years had mixed reviews in Zagats, which was fine by me as it was never that crowded. It has a bit of an antique store fell, and in fact, before a change in management a few years ago, it doubled as an antique store. This was always a good place to share a few dishes, like whole roasted fish (if they still serve it.) |
NOt sure what you are looking for, but the one restaurant the comes to mind and it literally right around the corner is Daily Chow. A pan-Asian place that has a Mongolian barbecue bar. But they also have great apps and entrees. Very good and very inexpensive.
