Rodents,reporters and viognier, oh my!!
Pattyd1~you might now have some idea as to how a perfectly lovely state like California could have Ahhnold as it's governor. There are the sane and the less sane among us:) So...follow R5's advice on delis and picnic spots. The beauty of the Valley is more to be had along the Silverado Trail or the parks she mentioned. |
Fess Parker drives a hummer!!!Another childhood hero falls from grace. Shame, shame, shame.

Just a little heads-up on some other Napa Valley places: I was just informed that the Taco Bell in Napa got a perfect 10 on their evaluations, Rutherford Grill also got a perfect 10.
Surprisingly so, French Laundry did not get a perfect score, but did receive an "A" rating. Very interesting! ***kim*** ((f)) |
Wait a minute!
I try to keep up with these posts, because I miss California, I miss Portland and I want to bring the Yankee back for another visit, including Napa. Now please, someone who lives there, tell me that Taco Bell is not the Taco Bell we have here on the East Coast? They serve boutique wines at your Taco Bells?? Are you talking about El Quiero Taco Bell wine ? ((&)) Are we even speaking the words Taco Bell and French Laundry in the same sentence??? razzle? Pam? Can I sit with you too? |
Yes, Scarlett honey-come sit with us
Budman, Kal, and quite a few others are here as well. :S- Well I dunno, it wouldn't surprise me if they serve jug wine at Taco Bell in Fresno-I mean how else could you you advise someone about a white wine when they specifically asked for advice on red. :-? Keep on a shovelin' :-" R5 |
It was a b*lls to the wall evening at the hospital. Yes siree, nothing like a three day weekend and unending rain to fill up the ICU! So, I come home and try to unwind with Fodor's.
I hesitate to say but simply must. Somewhere ,in all this advice to poor patty somewhere, has happened a wee bit of craziness.(Remember,I'm a mental health professional) Who is the arbiter when Taco Bell wins out over the French Laundry? Field mice at V Sattui and now this!! There has been much written of late about the long term neurological sequelae of spraying in the Central Valley. Tragically, I fear we are seeing it now. I am still trying to hold a civil tongue in my head. But it's getting harder! All those with nothing nice to say, come sit by me. |
patty~the advice for silver oak and rafanelli is good. silver oak is on the silverado trail i think. Folks line up for their cabs. Try some big Ca zins while you are here. These evolved from the red wines the early missions needed for sacraments. The grape is thought to have come around "the horn". They are good, they are big and they beat merlots and cabs IMHO. Think jammy and peppery. Add Pine Ridge to your big red tasting list.

TTT for civil order.

Well, if the thread can discuss about rats and V Sattui, then I guess it's okay to talk about "Frass", the psuedo name for Fess Parker's in the movie. Frass is insect poop.
|
so let me get this straight Kim...it is not okay to dine at a place that gave a friend food poisoning a few years ago, but okay to go right back where they serve Pita ala mouse?
I'm SO next to you Pam! |
Good morning gentle readers!
I think that maybe one cup of coffee is not enough to comprehend uhm some of the post on this thread, LOL. PamSF, I am sitting right there next to you too. Do you feel a bit crowded this morning, LOL. |
Just noticed this thread and have to tell you that I still see great evidence of chemical spraying in the Central Valley, particularly the Fresno-Clovis area. Viognier or Cab, anyone? They're both "the same" right?
|
Try Rugusci (they also have great olive oil) & Pride (up on the side of a Mt., but worth the drive).
