Boutique wineries????
My wife and I will be in the Williamette in early October and could really use some suggestions regarding the valley's vineyards.
We are both primarily red drinkers - obviously Pinots etc. Thnaks |
I am not sure which ones of these wineries have a tasting room but they would be worth searching out. Many boutique wineries are not open to the public.
Adelsheim Chateau Ste. Michelle (not really boutiquey but good none the less) Beaux Freres Elk Cove Chehalem Domaine Drouhin Panther Creek Cellars King Estate (again not boutique, but still a decent house) North Star Ponzi If you find some of these are only open to people in the "trade" talk to your local wine store and see if they can help set you up on a tour as a good customer. |
Some of those above are Oregon and some are Washington State. I guess I got a little carried away, lol. This is a good site about wineries. It should help. http://travelenvoy.com/wine.htm

We just returned from an Oregon trek and did the Willamette Valley. There are so many great wineries - especially as you drive on 99W - and a few of our favorites were:
Duck Pond...fairly great wine for the prices - and a nice winery Argyle...known primarily for their champagnes, but they are great! Their pinot is well- done, too. Erath...up in the hills above Dundee Be sure to drive up another 1/2-mile and check out The Black Walnut Inn, a new and gorgeous b&b where we were so happy to have stayed while there. Torii Mor...it's overrated by locals Sokol Blosser...nice tasting room - wine just OK - but worth a visit. Nice staff. It's always just fun to take a day & do tastings. Be aware that almost ALL have tasting fees...usually $5/pp. |
Our favorites were Domaine Drouhin and Archery Summit for the Pinot Noir. We had a very nice lunch at the Dundee Bistro. Would love to visit Carlton Winemakes Studio next time and have a meal at Joel Palmer House in Dayton. Cheers! ***kim*** ((f))
