Boutique hotels in san francisco

Any recs. on either tastefull B&Bs or boutique hotels in S.F.? I want one well located and more classically deco than modern.

It's been a few years, but I had a great stay in the Monaco hotel near Union Square. The decor was quite amazing; the rooms were comfortable and the staff very pleasant.

The Monaco is really nice -- beautiful lobby and the rooms are individually decorated. Some of the rooms are pretty small, but they're so nicely decorated, you hardly notice. It's a Kimpton property.

We liked the boutique Hotel Rex, near Union Square. It's a Joie de Vivre property.

I really liked the Prescott when I stayed there in April. It's another Kimpton hotel--and I've also stayed at the Monaco, the Serrano and the Palomar (which is probably more modern than you want). The Prescott has a fairly traditional decor but with boutique flair--a little less colorful than the Monaco and less expensive (at least on my most recent visit).
