Boutique Hotel in L.A.?

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Los Angeles area later this spring. We'd like to find out about a boutique hotel or B&B that you can recommend.

Location is key. We prefer Beverly Hills, West LA, or Santa Monica. Second choice would be the Newport Beach area. A nice price is always a plus.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Our favorite hotel in Santa Monica is The Hotel Oceana. It only has 63 rooms(all suites) that are large and decorated with a real "California feel".

http://www.hoteloceana.com/santamonica/home-sm.htm

Hazelmn,

One of my all-time favorite hotels in West L.A. is the Argyle Hotel on 8358 Sunset Boulevard (www.argylehotel.com). The Argyle is a classic art-deco hotel with great rooms, a wonderful ambience, a fantastic location and an incredible restaurant (The Fenix Room).

With only 64 rooms, the Argyle easily falls into the "Boutique" catagory and although some of the rooms are smaller than others, all are well appointed. Great views of Hollywood and the surrounding hills as well.

Go to their web site for a good "feel" of the property.

Strive

It ain't cheap, but Shutters (on the boardwalk in Santa Monica) is a lovely property.
