Boulder Suggstions
My husband and I have 2 days in Boulder. Love nature, good food, music, art and don't Ming getting some shopping in. What suggestions can you offer for an itinerary? Thanks!!

When???? Remember it is a college town.
|
Lots of art and shopping on the Pearl Street Mall.
Walk up the Chautauqua trail for nature, or go up the canyon a mile or so for a hike. Many good restaurants on Walnut street (parallel to Pearl), esp. the blocks around Broadway. Music depends on the time, venue. Also nice trails behind NCAR, which itself is worth a visit, both for the building and the views. The Celestial Tea tour (down the Diagonal to Gunbarrel) is always a favorite, and the Leanin' Tree Museum of Western Art (both free) is 1/4 mile from Celestial, and has an outdoor sculpture garden in addition to the indoor art. |
Consider the Boulderado Hotel. Convenient to alot of what Boulder has to offer.

Sorry for the misspellings above.

Just to clarify sylvia3' s comment on << go up the canyon a mile or so for a hike >> I'm sure she means walking along the Boukder Creek trail that follows the creek up and through Boukder Canyon. It's a really nice walk.
One could spend an afternoon along Pearl Sreet if visiting the art galleries, stopping for lunch/ coffee etc. Don't miss The Peppercorn....great little shop as is The Boulder Bookstore. |
No, I meant driving up and parking in the big lot:) IMO, there are too many bicycles on the trail close to town right now, and the paved trail is a little narrower. However, where it's wider (in town), that's a nice walk along the creek.
BTW, a lot of Boulder Canyon is closed right now, due to the fire near Nederland; hope they get it contained before winds sprng up and add to the 95 degree heat! |
I went to Boulder last weekend specifically for The Peppercorn and McGuckin Hardware. Both are great stores and for some reason I'd never been to either before.
Hope they get the fire under control! The front range is clear and beautiful from Denver and you wouldn't know there is a fire. |
So sorry, meant to include that we will be there Aug 6&7. Thanks so much for the suggestions!

When in Boukder I always do my morning walk/ run up the creek path to/ through the canyon. Not too many bicycles that early.;)
Unfortunately, fire season has arrived. It could be a bad this year as everything is so dry and temperatures well above normal. |
You might be able to get tics for the open air Shakespeare festival, which is wonderful.

Go to Chautauqua Park for hiking, a concert (check the schedule), and have dinner on their gorgeous veranda. They also rent cabins there, if you want something fairly rustic. It's a beautiful setting. https://www.chautauqua.com
Also, the Dushanbe Teahouse is fun: http://boulderteahouse.com |
