Boulder- Restaurants & Ski Deals
 

Hello there,
Our family spring break ski vacation with college visits thrown in, has turned into a Mother/daughter college visit with a day of skiing/boarding thrown in for fun. We're thinking Eldora, because it is so close to Boulder. It seems to still have a 46" base with a tentative close date of 4/11, so I think we'll be okay there. My questions:

1. Are there any coupons on lift tickets to be found - at local supermarkets etc.?
2. Equipment Rentals (we're not schlepping our stuff on the plane for one day of skiing) any favorites in town? The rentals at the mountain seem steep ($42 for a regular package for a day).
3. Boulder restaurants- any cuisine, any price. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Are there any Boulder "institutions" that we should definitely not miss?

Boulder has lots of great restaurants. You will get many good recommendations.

For a nice dinner, The Kitchen, downtown Boulder.

The Mediterranean, also downtown, is a great place for lunch/dinner. Nice outdoor patio.

Your daughter will want to see The Hill, shops across from CU. Grab a burger at The Sink. Its sort of an 'institution' in Boulder.

The Tea House is excellent for a true 'Boulder experience'. Really unique with a story to it. Great seating at the creekside. Great food.

So many more. . .

Forgot another favorite: the restaurant at Chautauqua Park. If weather permits, dining on the patio is special at sunset. Great food and service.

For breakfast <a href="http://www.luciles.com/">Lucile's</a> is definitely a Boulder Institution (you'll probably have to wait, but you can leave your # and go for a wander on <a href="http://www.boulderdowntown.com/visit/history-of-pearl-street">Pearl Street Mall</a>). We love <a href="http://www.johnsrestaurantboulder.com/">John's</a> for dinner. More groovy, but also great food is <a href="http://www.ajirestaurant.com/">Aji</a>. For lunch or tea the tea house is lovely. Ski rental at <a ref="http://rental.christysports.com/packages_pricing.php?StoreID=38">Christy's</a> is about $20. If you're at all inclined to hike there are heaps of really great trails in the area - check out the <a href="http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3058& Itemid=1037">City of Boulder</a> website for further info. I highly recommend walking at least part of the <a href="http://www.boulderguide.info/boulder-creek-path">Boulder Creek Path</a>. A nice thing to do is a late breakfast/brunch at Lucile's then walk west up Pearl Street until you get to Settler's Park, follow the trail under Canyon Road and then follow the creek path back into town through Eben G. Fine Park, past the library and then to the Dushanbe Tea House for an afternoon tea/snack which is just off the path.

I hope you enjoy Boulder. We love it.

I'm not familiar with ski rentals in Boulder, but I know there's a Christy's Sports there.

Eldora will be fine for a day trip. The CU ski team practices there, I believe. Definitely look in Boulder for equipment rental, like Christy's.
