Boulder / Colorado Springs trip
Hi there! We are leaving May 16th for a 9 day trip. Flying from New Orleans into Denver and driving to the next 2 locations. Not sure yet how long we are staying in each place. Trying to play that by ear.
We went to Estes Park last August so we kind of understand the weather and needing to layer and what not. Our confusion with this trip is what to pack. Im seeing on weather sites that there is snow. Ive also looked on random instagram accounts for both cities - Im seeing tons of snow in some pictures and none in others.
As far as Boulder and Colorado Springs go - What should we be packing? My wife has never seen snow so Im excited for her if there is but I don't want to pack for a snow storm and end up needing warmer clothes. We are also from the south so Im sure we will be much colder than locals.
Will we be able to hike? Can we get around easily? Are there things we wont be able to do?
I would like to know if we need to buy cold weather things that we certainly do not own.
Any advice on clothing and activities would be really appreciated!

I believe Col Springs just had snow and hail, but I woudn't expect the weather to be that bad during your trip. When I'm not sure, I usually go for layers - pack most clothes for warmer weather and then bring a sweatshirt and packable jacket.
I loved Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs - nice light hikes and beautiful scenery.

Our snow last weekend was late season, you should be fine with layers. The hail storm in C. springs was extreme, we get hail but usually not so much. If the weather is bad, look for indoor activities. Hiking in the front range should be ok. I have heard it may be wet this weekend so there may be mud.

I texted DD, who used to live in Denver, that they had 8 inches of snow last week. Her comment--must be spring!
I hope the OP is going to the mountains, not just COSprings and boulder. Not a big fan of CO springs.

The snow last weekend which ranged from 8" in parts of Denver to only a few inches in Boulder was gone within 48 hours. That's Colorado. Snow is expected this weekend in the mountains. The amount will depend on elevation. Still, I would've expect really cold temperatures. We're off to Estes Park area will be bringing fleece, rain jackets and appropriate footwear.
