Boston with 2 Kids aged 9 and 11
I would love to receive any suggestions on things to do with my husband and two kids whilst we are in Boston in late Sept. We are staying for 3 nights in Boston then plan on hiring a car to go to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. We are pretty adventureous and basically want to do things that our kids will also enjoy. Also how long would we need to spend visiting Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard as we only have 2-3 days to see these places plus any other interesting ones???? Thanks!!!

In Boston take the Old Town trolley.you can get on/off all day; the drivers are great guides. The following days you can see your favourites in depth. On your way to Cape Cod visit the Plimoth Plantation.Paul

when my nephews were that age they loved the duck tours. They were both allowed to steer the duck when it was out on the river. They also really liked the Museum of Science.
Maybe take a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. You can rent bikes for the day and see quite a bit. Especially in September, when the weather is a little cooler it will be nice. |
For your kids and adults, Duck Tour, Museum of Science (great static electricity show, planetarium, I Max and much more), Aquarium, Whale watch, Freedom Trail, Red Sox game and/or tour of Fenway. All should be done with public transportation unless you know Boston, its parking places and which roads are one way and are used to the interesting way folks drive there.
Many people spend a week or more on either Cape Cod or Matrha's Vineyard. Late September may have some days that are warm enough to enjoy beach activities, but you may find it a bit cool for swimming. The National Seashore is a gem and there are nice hiking and biking trails through it. You could rent bikes in Provincetown. If you are flying into Boston, you could even take the ferry to Provincetown and rent a car there. Have a great trip. |
Thanks guys for your suggestions. It all sounds great and I really appreciate your help!
