I wouldn't choose the Ritz for a young family, the former Ritz (now Taj as mentioned above) is a much better location.

Yes, I'll plan on letting you know about the rental after we stay there. Yes, the apartment was SMALL so we are actually renting 2 apartments from the same owner - different buildings near each other. This sounds an odd choice, but with my husband taking classes all day and my parents wanting time w/ our son (they live out of the country and don't get to see him much), it will allow my husband to sleep while the grands babysit overnight. :) At least, that is what they are hoping for!

So one apartment is on the fourth floor (with private rooftop space that looks amazing!) and the other apartment is on a second floor. I *think* it's going to work out great - I'm really looking forward to it. A larger apartment might have been more ideal, but this is what we ended up with. And 2 apartments rented for the week were definitely cheaper than any suite I could find that would accommodate 4 adults & one 12 month old. We also will have 2 kitchens & our own washer & drier - a HUGE plus with a child. The apartments are a 5-10" walk from Whole Foods - which sounds good to me as well! Should save on meals. :)

I know you no longer need advice, but just wanted to chime in my agreement that the taj is a much better location with kids than the Ritz. there is a small local kids "park", really intended for the smaller ones a few blocks from the taj that is perfect. I took my DD there when she was 2 and I was staying at the fairmont. I think it may be on clarendon? n
