TDudette, There is a new book out about Sargent and his muse--his niece Rose-Marie Ormand, who was the model for many of his paintings. Perhaps you can get it from your local library. It covers parts of his life that have not been written about elsewhere.

Disclosure: I know the two authors (friends of friends) who wrote the book, but would not recommend it if I didn't think it was worth reading.

There is more information at: http://www.amazon.com/John-Singer-Sa...r+Sargent+muse

TDudette, I just saw that there will be a Sargent exhibit in NYC:

Oh amyb, a joint exhibit must have been amazing. Someone mentioned this somewhere else (you?). The first place I visited in Madrid was Sorolla’s home. Sigh.

Thanks, cw for the book link. I just spent my book budget on two colored pencil books but will get the Muse one as soon as possible! I read a bit on the Amazon site. What an amazing talent.

Thanks also, elberko. I can combine Sorolla’s murals (another common thread) at the Hispanic Society for my next trip.
