Boston to PEI
 

My husband and I are taking a trip up to Prince Edward Island. WE want to stop at Newport ,RI and then may go up Rt 1. I want to know what way to go and any ideas of what to see. We are in our 60's and like to walk (not for hours) and my husband really likes history. We are doing this in July and have 2 weeks. I love gardens, ocean view. We don't want to come back the same way we go up.

RI 114 or 138 from Newport to Portsmouth, RI
RI/MA 24 from Portsmouth, RI to I-95 in Canton, MA
I-95 Canton, MA to Portland, ME
US 1 Portland, ME to Canadian border at St Andrews, NB
St Andrews to Amherst to PEI

Nova Scotia and Cape Breton look pretty tempting hanging out there at the Eastern end of your trip.

I'm not wild about Newport and Montreal, I love Quebec City and Burlington and haven't been to NS or PEI.
