OK - assuming neither you or the OP are learning challenged there are plenty of online maps to figure it out.
We usually get off 95 York/Ogunquit and take any number of roads into York. I think Cape Neddick is one that tosses you onto Shore Road. Taking a left on Perkins Cove Rd is much more forgiving then the backup into town on RT 1. After that we usually take one of the access roads to Moody Beach and take Ocean Ave? to Webhennet? hugging the coast to Well's Beach and taking Mile Rd back to RT 1. This avoids lots of backup at Hannifords light as you can go right on red and carry on. Heading into Kennebunkport on Rt9 we take the beach drive that pops us onto yet another right on red advantage light. If you're familiar with that light heading into Kennebunkport you know it can cause a mile of backup. The right on red wins every time. Alas, anyone as smart as a fifth grader could look up a map and see what alternative roads connect. So no wild goose chase. I was avoiding sharing the details as to not promote more traffic. Just is what it is, a way to get around the biggest bottlenecks. So go ahead Clark and shoot the messenger and make more kayak cracks. Perhaps you should include tital info before sending people out on an ocean or river kayak trip to avoid traffic bottlenecks? NO??? |
Thank you again for all awesome input! This has been really helpful as we try to plan out our vacation. We have narrowed it down and are thinking of doing the following:
1 night in Portland 3 nights in Camden 1 night in Kennebunkport We want to try some of the restaurants in Portland and it seems like Camden is a good spot to do more activities: hiking, kayaking, sailing, etc. We realized we won't have the time to go to Bar Harbor/Acadia and will have to do that another time. We also want to experience southern Maine so we picked Kennebunkport. Are we missing anything by not going to Boothbay? If you have any input on the places we've chosen (and if we should pick something else) I'd love to hear it. Thanks!! |
