BOSTON TO HARTFORD BY TRAIN

I want to do the train from Boston to Hartford. I live on the west coast so know nothing!! Can I catch the train in downtown Boston, and which train do I take...Metrolink, Amtrack, ?? etc. Also how long will it take and how much do you think it will cost. Once I get some info then I'll google things out. THANKS!!!!

Hartford is not on the main NE Corridor, so no direct train from Boston. It requires a switch at Springfield or New Haven, with infrequent service.

If you need public transportation, take the bus. Faster and more frequent.

Amtrak: You have to change in New Haven. The train to Hartford only goes once or twice a day, I think.

The regional bus sytem is Peter Pan Bus Lines: www.peterpanbus.com

It's not all that far. As above, I'd look into the bus.

It'll only take a couple hours and a bus is definitely the best way to go.
