Boston to Canada suggestions
 

Two 74 year olds considering about a 2 week trip leaving by car from Boston about August 28th up to Prince Edward Island. We have not been in this Canadian area in about 50 years. Prior to reaching Canada, what stops would you suggest? We have been to Acadia NP/Portland/Bar Harbor twice throughout this time. We enjoy gentle hikes, historic sites, local eats.

Oqunquit/Kennebunkport?

The Sebago Lakes Region?

Camden/Rockland/Castine, Mt Battie?

Greenville/The Moosehead Lakes Region?

Eastport/Lubec/Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge?

Baxter State Park?

Over night in Portsmouth NH for boat ride and visit to historic Strawbery Banke. I like both the harbor and inland rivers trips but harbor would be more historic.
I95 to Brunswick and Rt 1. Explore the Harpswell area. You can download a guide to conservation areas. Easy hiking but also places to sit and enjoy. Bath is next north on Rt 1. Ship building with nice view from bridge. You might want to visit Maritime Museum and check out their cruise schedule to see lighthouses. Bath is a nice little town with a Reny's Dept. Store and good candy shop. Try Needhams candy made from potatoes.
Head for Rockland. Claws is a casual restaurant with a porch looking out on the harbor. Your can visit Farnswoth At Museum and/or Owl's Head Transportation Museum. Easy hike to Owls Head Light. Best lobster shack is McLoon's. Outdoor seating with great view.
Don,t miss the auto road up Mt Battie in Camden or you can hike it. Camden is very popular tourist town but pretty. Top of Mt.Battie good place to sit a spell to enjoy view. Bring binoculars. We carry bag chairs in car for this kind of rest stop.
Although you have been to Acadia did you visit Cole Land Transportation Museum in Bangor? Really nice docents and I think more interesting than classic cars. Ask them how they got train engine, passenger car and caboose in the building.

Cannot thank everyone enough for all of your help. Our son had a medical emergency, and we may not be able to travel at that time, but I will save these for the future!
