Boston this weekend
 

My wife and I are going to be in Boston from Friday through Monday morning. Get in Friday about noon- plan to check our bags at the hotel, then go to the JFK Library. Saturday is Harvard/Cambridge and evening watching a track meet at the Reggie Lewis Center. Sunday is the Freedom Trail. Then we have to be at the airport by 11 on Monday morning.

A couple of questions-- we've got some ideas other than what's listed to fill up our time, but is there anything exciting going on this particular weekend that we should think about?

Also, we're relying on the T for our transportation. I see on their website that they've got a "Visitors Pass" that's $18 for three days. I can't tell how good of a value that would be. It appears that $1.25 is the basic fare that would cover the area we'll be in (staying near the Back Bay station.) If that's the case, then we'd need to take more than four rides a day for the pass to be worthwhile? Can anyone see that happening, given the attractions I've listed?

The T pass is not a good deal for you. You will use the T to get to JFK museum and to Harvard Square. Everything else is walking distance.
Go down Newbury ST and watch people, shop, eat.
The weather is going to be good, i.e. unseasonably warm and dry this weekend. Good for outdoor stuff (Freedom Trail, Frog Pond (Iceskating)).

It's pretty slow (we're still in morning we're not in the Super Bowl)

When you walk the Freedom trail, places to check out especially on a Saturday are the vendors in the open market near Fanuil hall. Mikes Pastry on Hanover street and L'Osteria resturant on Salem St. Get the veal special for 21 bucks and a carafe of house wine and you will be in for a treat.

You've picked a good weekend. It's supposed to be in the 50s both Sat and Sun.

Don't think you'll need the vistor pass, plus it's just one more thing to keep track of.

Nothing special on this weekend that I can think of, but the City is always very busy on weekends with it's regular activities.
Check out artsboston.org for a list of cultural activites, it will also tell you how to get 1/2 price tickets.
I would probably go with the pass, just to avoid always looking for tokens. You can also get 1 day passes for 7.50 a day. You are only about a 20 minute walk from the Lewis center.

If you go to the JFK stop, there is a free bus that will bring you to the JFK Library.
Parts of the freedom trail runs through Boston's Italian section, you should stop to enjoy the cafes there.
