Boston Tall Ships - 7/4/2012

Anyone around the Boston area this week should consider trying to see some of these ships. As part of annual July 4th Boston celebration and this year to commemorate the 200th War of 1812 Anniversary, there are assorted tall ships and US Navy vessels docked for the week - most offering free tours. BostonHarborCruises.com has lots of sailings where you can see them from Boston Harbor - might be worth checking out, although the one we were on today gave us a chance to see them in sail as they entered the Harbor.

Boston had all sorts of activity today, sailors from several countries wandering around in uniform, and other events. Worth a trip in - forget about finding street parking, though and be careful since we saw them towing cars.

We're taking a cruise tomorrow for the Tall Ships! Can't wait! Considering going to Chowderfest but I think the weather is too hot for chowdah.

The Boston Globe has a whole section on Tall Ships/OPSAIL: http://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle...ail-tall-ships

P.S. and all of this is taking place the same time as the Harborfest - our annual, week-long July 4th celebration:

We just came back from our Tall Ship cruise this afternoon. We took Mass Bay Lines but honestly, I don't think it matters which company you use as the boats all go the same route.

The cruise is an EXCELLENT way to see all these ships, as they are docked at multiple areas and some aren't as easy to get to than others. We had a GREAT time.
