Boston Subway to Airport
 

Several years ago we visited Boston. We were right beside the State St Subway station. To get to the airport we took an elevator down to the subway level and within 10-15 minutes we were at the airport getting on a shuttle bus to the terminals.

In a month or so we will be visiting Boston again. However, this time we'll be staying right across from the Library.

I think there's an airport bus that stops right there. However, we may be taking an 8PM flight which means we should probably leave for the airport 5:00 - 5:30. Correct?

I'm little leery taking a bus at that time due to possible traffic.
I checked the subway map and the Green Line from the Copley stop and a transfer to the Blue Line State St stop gets us to the airport.
Again, I'm a little leery about transferring on the subway with luggage.

Does the Copley station have an elevator and will we have an issue transferring?

I meant Gov't Center transfer and not State St.

Rather depends on how much luggage. I used the subway and bus to/from the airport last year with no trouble, but I had one carry on size rolling bag and a day pack. As best I remember there were escalators.

Government Center Station reopened recently with a new elevator connecting the Green Line to the Blue.

I would take the Logan Express bus from Copley Square. It is $7.50, credit card only on board, or $3 if you have a weekly T pass. I'd leave an hour before I wanted to get to the airport.

You'll have rush hour too at that time on the subway, and the bus will just be easier. But if you want the subway, it is completely doable now that Government Center has a new elevator.

I would leave closer to 6, but that is just me (I have pre-Check). I would also take an Uber and not the bus, as I take "we" to mean more than one person and the multiple bus fares will add up.

I agree with the uber comment. Logan isn't far from anywhere in or near downtown Boston (considering that the city is physically small to begin with).

I'm also wondering where in the h-ll Boston developed a subway. Last I checked it only had a T . . .

The MBTA calls it a subway. Since they run it, guess they get to name it.

The we is my wife with me. So only two people.

We'll probably take 4PM flight. My wife would rather get back at 7:20 instead of 11:15.

If we do that then for sure we'd take the Express bus.

This hasn't been decided yet as taking the 8:PM flight gives us almost the whole day.

We'll kick it around for a day or so.

Nonsense. The locals call it the T. Those who use it name it. Transport for London didn't come up with "The Tube" (which is entirely inapt for the 65% of the system that is cut-and-cover or outside).
