Boston resturants

we will be in Boston for a couple of days and would like to have suggestions for some really good resturants. a good wine list is important.

Libby_Nash,

Can you be a little more specific about the type of cuisines you like? There are a lot of great restaurants, but the spectrum (in terms of price, types of cuisine, etc.) is quite large.

This topic was recently discussed at length. Do a text search and you'll find plenty of threads on Boston dining.

Not really particular, something that Bostonians would think was exceptional.

Check out phantomgourmet.com for reviews of Boston restuarants. Also try Boston.com and bostonphoenix.com for more reviews. Les Zygomates might be a good place to start - has a good wine list. Aquitaine is another. The North End is full of very good to excellent restaurants. Everyone has their favorite. I like Massimino's which is on Endicott. Most restuarants are on Hanover or Salem.

Definitely go to L'Espalier.

I think that you should get a Zagats/Boston. Lots of good information. In Boston/Cambridge I would recommend Truc (French), North End (lots of Italian restaurants), East Coast Grill (awesome seafood), Oleana (Mediterranean), Aujourd'hui (expensive french). A little further out in Wellesley is Ming Tsai's Blue Ginger (make reservation well in advance).

My favorites are:
Aquitaine,
Troquet,
Hamersly's Bistro
Loch-Overs

KathyL - I think I read that Truc is gone and a new restaurant has opened in its space. It closed before I had a chance to get there - bummer. But the review that I read for the new place made it sound better than Truc.

The cook at Truc is now at "Üpstairs in the Square" in Cambridge.
An Italian resto replaced Truc.

bennie and cigalechanta,

Thanks for the heads-up on Truc. When did that happen? I guess it's been at least a couple months since I popped over to the South End. What a bummer. I really liked Truc. I will try Upstairs In the Square--saw that on a recent walk through Harvard Square, since it's near my neck of the woods.
