Boston Restaurants
 

We are going to be in Boston for a weekend in June and will be staying at the Hilton Back Bay. Any suggestions for a good seafood restaurant..( lobster)that is close by. Also need a nice romantic restaurant to celebrate a special birthday...restaurants will have to be fairliy close to our hotel so we can either walk it or cab it. Thanks...

Jasper White's Summer Shack is right next to your hotel.

Boston proper is a very walkable city. Unless you have a handicapp or the weather is off, you could walk most anywhere for a nice dinner - Southend, northend, downtown, backbay.

I haven't been in years, but Mama Maria in the Northend is considered romantic italian, and strolling thru the hood is wonderful.

BTW Penang on Washington in Chinatown is said to have pretty decent Malaysian food.

Reliably excellent seafood to be had at any Legal Seafood restaurant. There are a number of them scattered around Boston and I think there are 2 near or in the Back Bay.

I have no seafood restaurant suggestion, but I did want to say that we were underwhelmed by the food at Legal Seafood on our recent Boston trip--very disappointing. And, they committed my absolute unfavorite sin: took a reservation, warning us to be on time because the table would be held only 15 minutes, then when we arrived on time, gave us one of those flashing devices and we waited about 25+ minutes, just like all the people withOUT reservations. To restaurants who do this, I say, DON'T ACCEPT RESERVATIONS UNLESS THEY ARE ACTUALLY RESERVATIONS!!!

There are a few good seafood restaurants near your hotel. I like Atlantic Fish, Skipjack's and Great Bay, all within walking distance.

As for another special occasion restaurants, there are too many to name. Depends on what type of food you like and what your budget is. You might try L'Espalier, walkable from your hotel with excellent food and service.

My wife was ecstatic about the lobster at Skipjack's. We walked down Newbury Street while waiting for a table. Haven't been to Mama Maria's for years either, but I hear it's still very good.

same owner invovled as with bobs southern bistro which is jazz, but i think w/ a lobster night and specialty night you won't have time for that and it is verrrry casual

beehive might work nice for you, it is in the Boston Ctr for the Arts at hte corner of Tremont and Berkley and next to Hammersley's Bistro so you could eat and then listen to music- it is also a block from Icarus

you can also take the subway - although all of these you could walk to, or grab cabs, the subway is easy and you can look at it on mbta.com and also use hopstop.com and it tell s you how to get from point a to point b by either walking, bus, subway (t)
