Boston Qs on MFA & Blue Man Group
We'll be visiting Boston next month. I used to live in Boston, but can certainly use some advice from local Bostonians.
1. It's been years since I visited the MFA. As I recall, there aren't many (if any) restaurants nearby. We'll need a place to go for lunch (entree $10-15) within walking distance. I've looked at the MFA website, they have a restaurant called Bravo on site. Has anyone eaten there before? 2. We're not sure if we want (or have time) to see Blue Man Group. I noticed that the BosTix sells 1/2 price tickets for Blue Man Group on the day of performance. Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance. |
Regarding Q#2 - Yes we have purchased tixs for BMG from BosTix the day of the performance, but we were on line early (before they opened).
Have a nice trip! |

Do you recall how early you got to Bostix? Is this the one in Copley? Was there a long line when it opened? Also, do you remember what day of the week and what time of year it was? How were your seats? |
We purchased our tickets from the Copley kiosk.
It was early fall and on a Saturday. We lined up prior to the 10am opening time - something like 5th in line. By 10am there was a line, but nothing like I've seen in NYC. But I would imagine the line grows with the day. The theater is a small venue. Our seats were on the side, but didn't take away from our pleasure. They offer ear plugs, take them and use them! Enjoy! |

to see if you can get discount tix ahead of time for Blue Man. I like Bravo and it is the best choice because most of the nearby places are for students. |
MFA food: there is also a cafeteria in the basement with salads, sandwiches, one hot entree and soup, plus the salad-sandwich-fruitandcheeseplate dining area in the lobby outside the gift shop. Other than the cafe at the Gardner Museum (museum ticket not required) it is slim pickin's in the area.

MFA--I really like the basement cafeteria food.
The Gardnier had a lunch room with more fancy selection. But in addition the building & art is so remarkable it is worth a visit even if you don't eat there.. I do so envy your visit....Have a wonderful time.. |
We're actually planning on visiting Gardner Museum the following day, so thanks for the tip on the Gardner Cafe (I had to look at its website several times before I could find info on the Cafe.)
Maybe we'll stick with the MFA basement cafeteria and eat the the Gardner Cafe the following day. |
