Shirley

We stayed at the Park Plaza at the end of last year and were not that impressed. Our room was small and shabby - the bathroom was ancient and had recently been re-painted but it made no difference to the overall feeling of threadbare and aging facilities.

The Lobby of the hotel is very impressive - its just when you get upstairs that you feel let down.

Found the staff to be indifferent and not interested in ensuring you had a pleasant stay - would suggest you look elsewhere.

I agree with the previous poster. The lobby is spectacular, however the rooms leave a little bit to be desired. The carpet in my room was a bit threadbare and had several red (I'm hoping wine!) stains over it. Our bathroom was ancient and for some reason we had 2 of them in our room (not a suite). However, I thought that the service was decent. They delivered a complimentary bottle of red wine and a box of chocolates to my room even though I was there just for business. Fellow workers stayed at the Ritz down the street, and were also disappointed with their hotel. So if you plan on spending a lot of time in your room, I would look around at some other hotels. However if you are doing the touristy thing, I would stick with the Plaza.

The first room they gave us at the Park Plaza last year was a bit "worn", so we asked if another was available. The second one was fabulous!

P. S. The location is terrific.

Don't dis the Park Plaza, it's the hotel that the President stays at when he visits Boston, and it is the one with the best security. Also, there are some great restaurants in the hotel and very nearby the hotel.

Depends on what rate you are paying. There is no hotel in a better location, especially for 7/4 when rates will be very high at most newer hotels. So if you got a deal, I would stay there.

I agree with the above posters - all hotels in Boston are expensive. If you have a decent rate at the Boston Park Plaza, you cannot beat the location! - Right next to the Boston Commons, a subway stop across the street, nice restaurants all around. We stayed there a couple of years ago and while our room was small, it was very pleasant. The lobby is beautiful and we had great service.

Just wanted to inform everyone that there are two hotels in downtown Boston called the Park Plaza. Very confusing!

Ellen Mar 1st, 2002 05:17 PM

Here's one, at 64 Arlington St.; where's the other?

http://www.bostonparkplaza.com/

Maybe Gene is referring to the Omni Parker House at the corner of School Street and Tremont Street, famous for the Parker House Rolls.
