Boston Park & Ride Lots, City Parking for the Day
Hello,
Day trip from Sandwich to Boston - are there any Park & Ride Lots? Google tells me Sagamore (Bourne) Park & Ride Lot. Is this an option and what is the public transportation offered into the city. Any one have information on this? If we drive in where can you park for the day and use public transportation. Thank you for any help offered. Sandy |
Sandy, that is a Park and Ride near the beginning of the Cape. Not sure what there would be for public transportation from there. I would look much closer to Boston and use www.mbta.com for the subway / public transportation options.

The Plymouth and Brockton Bus goes from the Sagamore Park and Ride into Boston's South Station with some frequency. The P&B Bus also picks up from the Barnstable Park and Ride before hitting the one at Sagamore, which may be closer for you.

I have friends who do this every summer from the Cape. They park in Barnstable but that's because they stay in Chatham.
The Sagamore Circle lot is on the "mainland" side of the Sagamore bridge, east of Rt. 3. You'll pass it when you're driving to the Cape. It's right at the circle and a the P & B busses run quite often. |
There are other park and ride lots off Route 3 in Plymouth and Norwell. The Plymouth and Boston bus stops there as well.
Plymouth and Boston buses run hourly during off hours and every half hour during rush hour. You will need cash for tickets as credit cards are not taken. They have a website that you may google. There are commuter parking lots in Braintree and Quincy from which you could take the Red Line into the city, but they are often filled very early. Look at the commuter rail section of the MBTA website to learn about trains from Plymouth and other points. |
