Boston- One Day
 

My DH and DS will be in Boston the last weekend in september for the Yankee/Red Sox Game. what should they spend their time on saturday doing?

My DS is 9 years old.

what is Boston noted for kids wise?

1. The Duck Tour is a big favorite of adults and kids alike.
2. The Museum of Science is great for kids (adults, too, for that matter).
3. Walk the Freedom Trail.
Those three will make for a complete and enjoyable day.
Also, tell them if they haven't done it before to take the tour of Fenway Park the morning of the game. It's quite interesting. It includes a stop atop the Green Monster.

I second the Duck Tours. Or the sightseeing trolley tours are nice too (on/off pass all day at sights, on land only) and some trolley tours will have free or discounted admission to the New England Aquarium (great for kids) as part of the ticket deal. The Children's Museum is also located in South Boston.

The Children's Museum may be a little too young for your son. My kids love the Museum of Science, the Duck Tours, and the Fenway Tour.

On a week end, I think you would need to buy Duck Tour tkts ahead of time. They sell out *very* quickly. Here is the website if you are interested... http://www.bostonducktours.com/ The freedom trail is great but I am not sure about the interest level of a 9 yo to see historic sights... If it turns out to be one of the glorious Sept days that Boston can have, I would advise against being indoors (science museum) Just walking around Boston Common and going to the Public Garden can be fun for a kid. Lots of vendors and general activity. Also, the Swan Boats may(??) still be operating at that time and kids--even in this theme park, video game generation--seem to get a kick out of them.
