Re the priceline question: Downtown Boston is a good place to be, close to all. That's where the 3* Doubletree is.

Can anyone tell me if this hotel is in a great location?

Courtyard Marriott
63 R Boston Street
Boston, MA 02125

Thanks!

Or this one....it's in the Financial District. Is that not as great of location as Back Bay?

Hilton
89 Broad Street
Boston, Massachusetts, 02110

Are you sure you have the address right for the Courtyard? I have no idea where that is. The Hilton on Broad St is a good location, it's within walking distance to Faneuil Hall and Beacon Hill. Maybe a tad less convenient than the Back Bay but still a good location.

Last summer we stayed to the Marriott Custom House and it was perfect! We had a 2-room suite with a kitchenette. It is adjacent to Quincy Market/Fanuil Hall with all the shops and restaurants you could want. Also right by the N.E. Aquarium. It wasn't less than $250, but it was worth every penny!

Have fun

That Courtyard by Marriot is in Dorchester.

You might want to stay in Boston over Labor Day weekend, and on the Cape during the week -- that way your timing will be in opposition to all the big weekend crowds on the cape: you can probably get a better deal, and you can avoid being stuck in traffic.

jenalr Dec 30th, 2006 05:09 AM

Yes, I am sure that is the correct address for the Marriott.....I got it directly from the Marriott website.

Question - how far is back bay from the center of downtown and the waterside area?

Thanks!

jenair -- sorry if I confused you. Dorchester is a neighborhood of Boston. It is pretty far south and out of the usual tourist area.

jenalr Dec 31st, 2006 06:58 PM

AH, sorry about that.....
thanks for letting me know that.

That's not the best option then!

What about the Clarion Bulfinch? Know anything about that? It says it's got a shuttle to the T? Is it decent?

Thanks!

I don't know the Clarion hotel or the immediate neighborhood, but that is a lot closer to the center of things.

You could walk to Fanueil hall from there, I think.

wyatt92 Jan 2nd, 2007 03:32 PM

Definitely no to Dorchester. The Clarion Bulfinch is in a decent area. Have you checked the Park Plaza and the Omni Parker House? I believe they are in your price range and are both good options.

Hi All,
I have been reading all the good feedback regarding accommodations in Boston proper. I am actually attending a conference the second week of March and was planning on staying at Marriott Copley for conference, and then taking a few days and staying at a rental off Adeliede Street, near Jamaica Plains. I have never been to Boston and my husband and I want to explore the city on foot, after business is over. Is this a safe area? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MMC

I would nix Jamaica Plain. Most of the neighborhood is relatively safe and there are some funky places to eat and shop but it's not very convenient to the tourist areas. Depending on where you are you may not be close to a T stop either.

Thanks,
I was told about a 3 minute walk to the "T" (Stonybrook), then I could depart at Back Bay. We mostly want to do the Freedom Trail and Fainuel (sp) Market. Any suggestions for an area that would be a central location? Really want to stay at little vacation rental with a kitchenette and be able to relax with a glass of wine and read in the evening. We are from Florida, so don't know how long we can endure the cold after dark!

If you're going to visit Boston and use the public transit then you must get a good map and become familar with the subway system map. The Stonybrook station is on the subway's Orange line, which does indeed stop at Back Bay Station; it also stops at Government Center and Haymarket, both of which are closer to the Freedom Trail route. A suite with a little kitchenette will be expensive in locations that are convenient to downtown.

Well if you can stay at the Copley Marriott all the better. In general, anything in the Back Bay will be a good choice.
