Boston/New York/Washington
 

Hello, i'm planning a multi trip to the us in aug and what i need to know is, how easy is it to fly between these three destinations and out of 15 nights, how long should i plane to spend in each. Thankyou

They are all great cities. Boston is the smallest of the 3. You can easily fly between these cities or you may want to consider the train (Amtrak). Teh train stations tend to be more 'city center' than the airports and don't take much more time if you consider the time needed for airport check-in, picking up luggage and cabbing into the city. I would say about 4 days Boston, 6 NYC, 5 DC.

I agree with Marj, the time is comparable and the hassle FAR less if you take the train between these cities. If you do fly to DC, try to arrive at Reagan/National airport rather than at Dulles or Baltimore, which are a much longer trip into the city.<BR><BR>In principle, I agree with Marj's allocation of your 15 days, BUT since it's August, I'd reduce the number of days in DC, which is horribly hot and humid then, and stay longer in Boston instead, maybe take a day trip to Cape Cod.

I LOVE the train, but still often fly when I can usually get specials that are less expensive than Amtrak, and get me there in less time. <BR><BR>MK could probably fly between Boston &amp; DC (DCA) where the airports are closer to the city and well served by public transit, then Amtrak from DC to NY to Boston, or some similar route. <BR><BR>Amtrak has a special right now - I think it's good for travel up to August, of one free companion ticket with one full price purchase, or 25% off full price if traveling solo. I like Jen's suggestions. BTW, consider a stop at Philadelphia too.

Previous poster suggested 4 Bost, 6 NYC and 5 DC. That much time in any of these cities is too much in the summer. I would get an Amtrak pass and use it to explore the East Coast with stops in these cities but what about getting off in Westerly RI to visit the great beaches in the area. Or Newport or Mystic CT. Get off in Baltimore and catch an Orioles game. There's alot of other stuff in between too.
