Boston Ma public transport ....HELP PLEASE!

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me?....I am flying into Boston Ma, next Sunday and am trying to work out the the public transport, to take me from Logan Airport, to Jamaica Plain, Boston?...which would be the best way, with quite a lot of luggage,?... Thanks for any advise.

MBTA.com has a routing option - you enter Logan and your destination and it gives you all the options, including walking distance/time.

You can get close to some parts of JP on the Orange Line (subway trolley part of MBTA) but others require a bus - that is why I am sending you to the website to accurately map your specific destination.

The bus will not allow "quite a lot of luggage", unless you happen upon an empty bus.

It will be a pain on any of the public transportation options.

You would have to take the Silver Line bus from your terminal to the Orange Line, then the Orange Line to somewhere that someone can pick you up. If you are not meeting someone, I would go all the way to Forest Hills because you are unlikely to find a taxi at the intermediate stations.

It depends on where you are going in JP, also. Some areas are fairly easy to reach from the Heath Street branch of the Green Line but getting there is non-trivial: airport bus to MBTA Blue Line, change to Green Line at Government Center. Lots of stairs and lifting bags.

If you can possibly afford it, a taxi would make your life much easier.

And quite a few MBTA stations do not have operable elevators for your luggage (disability rights groups have been protesting this for years). Really - a taxi is $25-40. I would really try to find a way to work that into your budget if at all possible.

How much luggage? Can you manage it onto a bus? A cab would be easiest but it really depends on where you're going in JP to give you good advice.

According to this fare tracker, going to Centre street jp will cost about $43 and shows the breakdown of fees. If you can afford it, I'd bite the bullet, travelling with LOTS of luggage.

Still out there, Carol09?

Any reaction?

The Orange line isn't subway/trolley. The Green line is. Orange line is regular full-length "heavy rail" subway.
