Boston long term parking
Hi Everyone. Does anyone have any money saving tips for long term parking at Boston's Logan airport? I can't see shelling out $160 to park for 10 days in the airport lot or one of the park and go places. Thanks
|
I'm also interested in this but since our flight leaves at 7am, we'll probably stay at the Holiday Inn www.parksleepfly.com $159 (up to 4 people) for one night and 10 days free parking - $10 a day after that.
Pity the hotel doesn't get good reviews but it's only one night and it offers a complimentary 24hr shuttle that leaves every 15mins. Does anyone has any thoughts on this? |
It's not exactly a tip but we got lucky parking in the long term lot at Logan last month. It was just about full and the ticket guy had left so the guy who was directing cars pointed out a space and we weren't charged!
BTW, alya ,I'd like to know what the Holiday Inn is like if you do stay there as it sounds like a good deal. |
Have you looked into taxi fares from your hometown, or even one-way car rentals? If any of those is less than $80 each way, you'll be ahead financially and also won't have to worry about what might be happening to your own car while you're away -- it will be safe at home, making your place look occupied.
Another possibility is the Logan Express -- parking there won't save you much overall, but if you can get there cheaply (taxi, neighbor, public transit) the round-trip fare to/from Logn is $20. What town are you coming from? |
Try www.longtermparking.com Logan park-n-go has a discount coupon and although the rates are $16 a day the have a weekly rate of $89. www.loganpark.com
There is also Thrifty long term parking on the longtermparking.com site for $13 a day and a link to the park-n-fly hotels. |
Thanks for the replies. We'd be driving in from Barrington, RI (just east of Providence)for a 9:30 pm departure. Someone I talked to mentioned about driving up to the Quincy T station and taking the train in to Logan. I guess the parking there would be much cheaper, but it sounds like a bit of a hassle.
|
I think most(maybe all) T station lots have a 7 day limit.
|
Maybe I am overly cautious, but I cannot imagine leaving my car in a T parking lot for any extended period of time.
|
We had a 6:30 a.m. flight from Logan and stayed as a package deal through the charter company and it was a heck of a lot easier getting up at 3:00 a.m.and falling into a bus to take you directly to the Terminal..and back. The hotel isn't that bad...there is even a restaurant on the property...There were many others who had left their cars there too.

You could always take the Bonanza bus from Providence (not downtown but on the Pawtucket line just off 95) Free parking and there are two early morning buses that would get you in well before your 9:30 flight.

Highflyer - we're not flying til late April but will let you know how it goes.
Whitey - was down your way last weekend, shopped there and in Warren, such a beautiful area. milemarker - I also recommend Bonanza Bus, I use them to visit NY and they're always ontime - once there was only 6 of us on the bus and they still left on time, don't know about parking though. |
I never thought about Bonanza bus, sounds like a good idea. I'll check into the prices/schedule and see how they handle luggage and strollers..Thanks again

Drive to Braintree and take the Logan Express. Every half-and-hour, round-trip $20. Parking $11/day, $66/week.

The Bonanza Bus is an even better suggestion than the Logan Express, since the fare is the same and you won't have to park in Braintree. They do go to Logan; if they just went as far as Boston's South Station, you'd still have to cope with getting from South Station to Logan, which is currently a big hassle but soon will be a direct ride on the new Silver Line. Parking at a T subway station (Quincy etc.) is a terrible idea, even in the unlikely event that it's permitted.

whitey- since your flight isn't until 9:30 pm., I think your best bet is to just drive to Logan and park in the economy long term parking. At least it is a secure parking lot.The cost is $96/wk., and $16 ea. additional day. Bonanza and Logan express can be good, but with parking, its not that much of a savings, and since it sounds like you'll have a baby with you, its not worth the hassle.

When my brother flys he always does the overnight at the Holiday Inn (I think it's the Holiday Inn) and leaves his car. It's not fancy, but it's clean. He's probably done that eight or ten times. Since you're leaving at 9:30 p.m., that's really not an option for you. I would look into a shuttle from home to the airport just for the ease of it all. We typically take a shuttle, but we're only 50 miles from Boston. I just find it easier - door to door, they load the car, etc. and they're waiting for you when you return.
|
I agree that Logan Express isn't much of a bargain with parking fees, but surely there's a way for the OP to get from Barrington to the Bonanza Bus (about 10 miles) other than driving themselves -- a neighbor or a taxi is what most of us do in similar curcumstances.

Logan Express has gated secure lots. And it is a breeze to get to the airport, I would think especially convenient with a baby. One time, on a two week trip, we booked a night at the Red Roof Inn near Logan Express Framingham, and just asked if we could leave the car in their parking lot for 2 weeks. No problem, they said, so we got free parking. |
If you can't find somebody to drive you, Bonanza has FREE parking at the main terminal (not downtown Providence), and if you pay for one full fare, everyone else gets 5$ off the trip to Logan...

We stayed at the Holiday Inn and paid $179.00 for 12 nights parking and a room for the night before we left. The shuttle was waiting outside the door before we checked out at 4.30am. The only thing that concerned me was the fact that we had to put a form on the dashboard that had the date we would return to collect the car, this clearly showed the cars that were there for an extended period. A nice clean and quiet hotel even though it's close to the airport, good service and friendly staff - we'd stay there again. hope this helps. |
