Boston location?
Hi,
I Have seen all of the postings on Boston Hotels recently. We are going in June, and are wondering if it is better to get a room in the back bay area or downtown? We are walkers, and will not have a car. However, I imagine we will get a cab when we get tired. Have a rate of $199/night for 3 nights at the Hilton. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Are you talking about the Hilton in the Back Bay? Great location. Stick with that. The Back Bay is one of Boston's livliest neighborhoods and has good access to the T. "Downtown" can be pretty desolate at night and on weekends, unless you are in the Quincy Market area. Boston is also pretty small for "big city" standards, so you can walk just about everywhere. The T is very convenient and is only a dollar. Use that instead of cabs whenever possible. www.mbta.com for T info.

Yes! I booked the Hilton in Back Bay area. I'm glad you think it is a good area-had also considered some hotels near the market, but they were very expensive! Also considered Sheraton across from the Hilton, but decided it was just too large with a lot of people! Are there nice restaurants where we will be?
Thanks again!

I would largely agreed w/ bm, but may depend on your interests and if you have kids. Back Bay has generally more residential feel and lots of good (but expensive shopping)- more upscale feeling. The main attraction to downtown is proximity to waterfront attractions and North End(Italian food) Fanuiel Hall also "tourist central" but near Aquarium(good for kids) and Old Ironsides. Also can be cooler than Back Bay. Either way as bm stated, Boston is pretty small and plenty of public transportation

No kids with! That means we can really do a lot in one day-I hope! Thanks for info.
