Boston is the most expensive city!
 

I paarked at GCT 41&Lex for $24 so don't say I don't know big city prices... parking in Boston was $34 and a surly "you missed the early bird $2 off..." to boot. Every drink break with the kids was $2 a soda and every stop on the freakin Liberty trail was $6 a person to see!!We could have gone to Italy for the money we wasted in 98 degree heat in Boston!! the one bright spot was the Tage hotel; 5 min out of town but very nice.

Who knew that Boston would be expensive? Gosh, I always thought Boston and Ponca City were similar.<BR><BR>Yes, you got screwed on the parking dearie but you can easily find it for much cheaper!<BR><BR>You really sound childish and immature. Italy, indeed.

Well, if you didn't give your kids a bottle of sugary soda every time they whined for it, you would have saved yourself some money! Looks like you really got a lot out of your visit (NOT!).

Oh, PLEASE do not go to Italy! If you can't handle parking, soda, warm weather, and the trail, you certainly aren't geard for international travel because (here's the surprise) IT'S NOT LIKE HOME!

Ha! They spotted you.<BR>That's the "tourist from out of state" parking price. Locals get it for half that, but they spot the rubes from a distance, jack up the rate and pocket the difference!<BR>

From someone who has lived here and in NY metro area, yes, Boston is very expensive. And if it was last week when you were here, the heat made everyone obnoxious. Unfortunately, Boston is far enough north that many people do not have air conditioning in their homes and some small restaurants are not AC as well.<BR><BR>There are many lots in Boston that cost less than $34 for the day, just as I am sure there are many in NYC that cost more than $24. As a tourist you don't know where they are, and got unlucky - since Boston is so popular with tourists in the summer, the lot owners can charge almost as much as they want.<BR><BR>We were in Washington, DC a few weeks ago and found food, lodging, parking, etc prices to be on par with Boston - the only advantage there is no admission fee everything - except Spy Museum which is private and that was $12 each!

Wow! You really missed it. There's so much to do and experience in Boston that doesn't cost anything. Do your research before you go. We went there two summers ago as part of a New England/Canadian trip and wouldn't have missed Boston for anything. We also took kids but water is great - and much better for them. We also walked the whole Liberty Trail and not every place charges at all. Try focusing on the history, uniqueness and beauty of the place instead of $$$. The Natural History Museum in Cambridge was a knockout and had great bargains on Sat. mornings. Of course summer is hot. There are plenty of cool, shady places in the Commons. With kids you have to take breaks, go back to the hotel pool to cool off, you know the drill.

Too bad you haven't learned that, when traveling, prices are WAY lower right around the corner. If you want to park right there or buy a soda right there, you're gonna pay tourist prices. 98 degrees is very unusual for Boston. Too bad you picked the wrong dates. Can't wait to hear your report on Italy!

I think the heat has gotten to him. We are from SF and were in Boston on July 4 in the middle of their heat wave(we went on covered trolley tour and stayed cool)...we expected expensive...we were able to economize and did not feel ripped off--did not spend a dime on Freedom Trail--it is the best--wish SF had something like that! We had a great vacation (in between our daughter dancing at the Irish Step Dancing Championships). We loved the Italian food in Boston...save your money and enjoy America!!

I live 45 min from Boston and consider myself fortunate.. I have never paid more than $20.00 to park and there are mANY wonderful "freebies"if you bother to look. Take smelly Italy, I love that "dirty water oh Boston your my home"
