I'll second the suggestion to opt out of whale watching. It will take too much time, and it will probably be too dang cold anyway!

Since you're flying into/out of Bradley, a trip to Old Sturbridge Village (take I-84 east from Hartford) isn't too far either.
It's a re-creation of a 1830's New England village. Or while you're at Groton, and wish to visit Boston, you could take Amtrak (rail) from New London, and you'll arrive right in the center of town. If finances are short and you're willing to use "dormatory" type lodging, there is a hostel within walking distance of the Boston Back Bay station - the first stop your train would make in Boston. http://www.bostonhostel.org/ |
