Boston in Late November

I will be traveling to Boston for the first time in late November and would like a few ideas on things to do/places to eat, etc. We'll either be staying at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel or the Omni Parker House, not sure yet, but I'd like opinions on the hotels too. Thanks!

Both hotels offer an excellent location , they are about a 5 minute walk from each other. For food and activities, tell us what you like and you will get mroe responses.

type the word Boston in the search bar and many many threads filled with loads of advice on Boston will appear. Good luck.

oh and scroll down to Massachusetts before hitting search button!

I appreciate your responses and will look at other posts for ideas. I love museums and anything historical, thus a trip to Boston was born. As far as dining, we'd like to try some of the usual New England fare and maybe something a little more exotic. Also, we were looking for a great place to have Sunday brunch. Thank you!

The South End has many great places for brunch, I especially like Union.

Hi, lola - we're planning a trip to Boston as well. We're looking at doing a whale watching tour, going to the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, doing the Duck Tour and also the Freedom Trail. We're also going to the North End for Italian Food and hitting Legal Sea Foods for fresh seafood.

There's a lot of information on these boards. Just search for anything that interests you and loads of information will come up.

Do NOT eat at Anthony's Pier Four or the Union Oyster House, Durgin Park or any of the old Boston stand-bys. There is lots of really good food, but not there. In the North End, there are several good restaurants and many mediocre ones. The same is true in Harvard Square. Check this forum and a good guide book and inquire about specific choices here.

The Duck Tour is schlocky, but actually quite good... It's much better than the absurd Trolleys.

We were in Boston for a week around Thanksgiving - pack your woolies! It was very cold and windy and we even had flurries. We did the Freedom Trail and lots of other great things that have been recommended here but remember to do it early - it got dark before 4:00 and sight seeing was impossible. I do love Boston though!

Both hotels you mentioned are on the freedom trail. The North End as well is on the freedom trail. Combine shitory with walks down Salem and Hanover Street in the North End, for teh food and the cafe life.

You can type many things into the search this forum bar at the top of the page -

"North end restaurants" "Boston hotels"
"boston itinerary" etc, etc - also, I often do it without highlighting the Massachusetts drop down, or by doing both, because I often get different threads that come up - I personally have better luck typing in more specific searches on something, compiling some notes and itinerary, and then asking the questions to refine it and /or to make sure the info is still fresh

Re hotels: The Omni Parker House is probably a better choice over the millennium. Both are good locations, but the Parker house seemed a bit more charming to me. I've been in both for meetings/functions, but never have stayed at either as a guest, so hopefully someone will post firsthand guest reviews of those places here for you.
