Boston in June

We recently scored tickets to the Boston taping of Antiques Roadshow, and decided to make a little vacation out of it. We really enjoyed Boston: what a great city!
I’m not a writer, but I’ve listed some of the highlights and am happy to answer any questions.

2 breakfast’s we especially enjoyed were at Maria’s Pastry Shop in the North End, and Anthem at Quincy Market.

elberko, you hit the "Big 3" of seafood places, with Island Creek, Neptune and B&G. How did they compare? which was your favorite?

elberko Jun 15th, 2012 07:29 AM

Hmmm, Neptune and Island Creek are so different I’d have a hard time calling one “better.” Great food at both! Island Creek had a bigger menu, and the service was really friendly. Neptune is TINY, but loved the old-fashioned French bistro look of the place.

B&G was good, but a step below the other 2 food-wise. We did really enjoy eating on the back patio here.

Thanks for your report. Looks like you enjoyed some excellent dining. How did you do on Antiques Roadshow? Hope you had a hidden treasure.

Lookin_Glass Jun 15th, 2012 09:53 AM

Yes, did you have to stop at Sotheby's before returning home? Always thrilled to hear a report.

No hidden treasures I'm afraid. Three out of four items were somewhat more than we expected, but nothing was camera-worthy. Fun experience though.

elberko...I'm not an oyster fan but we like most other seafood. Did Neptune and Island Creek have a good selection of other options from the sea?

Who did your North End walking tour?

elberko Jun 16th, 2012 04:39 AM

Yes, both restaurants had more than oysters. Their online menus were up to date. Can especially recommend the clam chowder at Island Creek.
