boston hotels - travelling with a 1yo.

My husband and I and 1 year old daughter will be in Boston in June. We're looking for decent hotels. We don't need to stay in Boston proper - I just want to be near a T line. Any suggestions? We would not like to spend a fortune to stay. I like decent/clean hotels with a good location. What are the good neighborhoods if we were to stay in Boston?

The best bet is to print a one-page map of Boston and highlight your planned destinations (sights, restaurants, strolling, etc.) during your visit, then decide the most convenient place to stay.

For June, you might want to consider using Hotwire or Priceline.

With a one year old I wouldn't hesitate to use Priceline. I always use Priceline in Boston because I know what my hotel options are going to be using biddingfortravel.

I've gotten the Westin, Fairmont Copley Plaza and The Colonnade bidding in the Back bay Zone, and have paid between $70-$99 dollars in the last 2 years.

I got the Hyatt for $65 in the Financial District a few months ago.


I much prefer the Back Bay area, but why stay outside of Boston Proper when you can stay in the heart of Boston within wlking distance to everything plus be near Newbury Street?

i like the royal sonesta in nw boston, right around the corner from the museum of science. has very nice view of the charles river - corwin

The Sonesta is actually in Cambridge and is a nice hotel - but not right near an MBTA stop. It also is not in a part of Cambridge to which you can walk to much of anything you would like to see - nice view of Charles River, in good weather nice walk across bridge over River - just not exactly what you were requesting.

Unfortunately, clean, decent convenient hotels that do not cost a fortune are a rarity in Boston. Priceline might be a good bet, since their areas within Boston are rather compact and reasonably true-to-name.

Truly, if you do your homework and know what you're doing, you can book a very conveniently located hotel with Priceline or Hotwire, for significantly less than "a fortune" (and less than not in Boston proper but near a T line) and not have to deal with a baby, stroller, huge tote, stairs, transfers, "commuting" from elsewhere.
