Boston Hotels
I'm thinking about going to my nephew's college graduation in Boston on 6/5 and am trying to find a hotel for that weekend. The rest of my family is staying at the Back Bay Hilton (which at around $350 is more than I'd like to spend). Any other suggestions of decent hotels in that area? I'm sure it's a busy time with graduations, but am hoping to find something more reasonable.

We stayed at the Harborside Inn last September.
Not luxury but quite acceptable. I would definitely stay there again. Directly across from the harbor and across the street from Quincy Market. Less than 10 minute walk to the Italian restaurants. Etc. Subway stop right outside the door. We even took the subway to the sirport when we left. "Elevator" from street level. Under $200 per night. |
Unfortunately, hotels near the Back Bay Hilton will be expensive, unless you are willing to stay at less desirable hotels.
You can try Newbury Guest House, or Jewel of Newbury Hotel. Have you already looked at other business hotels near the Hilton, such as the Sheraton Back Bay, or the Westin, or the Fairmont Copley? A few other hotels nearby are the Copley Sq hotel (boutique, just reopened after a massive renoavation), or the Colonnade Hotel? Both MIT and Harvard have their commencement that week, so tens of thousands of relatives and friends will be in town taking up all hotel rooms. |
Oh, wow, yk, both of them? I wonder if OP will find a room in Boston at this late date!
|
Harvard is June 4; MIT is June 5.
I just looked at quikbook; for June 4-5 (2 nights); most places at Copley are $300+. Millennium bostonian (@ Faneuil Hall) is $290; Holiday Inn EXPRESS Downtown is $240; Park Plaza is $250. Rooms seem to be available, they just aren't cheap. |
Thanks for the suggestions. There do seem to be rooms available (from a quick check on Priceline) but I would like to find something under $300/night! I'll check these out....
|
I paid in about $190 on Priceline for Back Bay Sheraton last year at this same time. I might have gotten it for a bit less, but sometimes the last $20 bucks isn't worth the hassle. We had a great room at the Radisson in the theatre district, also from Priceline, though the lobby is unimpressive. Airport hotels (4* only) may be lots cheaper than downtown and are pretty accessible by T.

I just got an email from Kimpton Hotels. They are having a w/e special..if you stay at least two nights, Thurs thru Sunday, the rate is $81.00 a room. You must be a Kimpton Intouch member for the rate, but all you have to do is sign up. I don't know the location of these hotels to where you are looking, but they get good reviews and Kimpton has a great reputation. Can't beat that price!! It is in honor of the year the hotels were started, 1981. The hotels are Nine Zero and Onxy. They also have a hotel in Cambridge, Hotel Marlow. Once you become a member, the rate code you enter is "born". They do not have pools etc...but a great stay for the $$$. Check it out. Hope this helps.

I wonder the Kimpton w/e special is valid for the June 4/5/6 weekend?
|
June 4 is a Thursday; how long is a "weekend" for Kimpton?
|
D'oh! Sorry, how could I have overlooked Allison's post? Now the question is whether they still have rooms for that very popular time frame. Any of those 3 hotels would be fine.
|
It's valid for a 2 night min. w/e stay Thurs thru Sunday until September. Going to have to book a room myself just to take advantage of a terrific deal!! Hopefully your w/e is available!!
|
Thanks so much, Allison --- what a great deal! It's not as close as we would like, but can't pass up the opportunity!

MP07950- were you able to book the Kimpton deal?
