i don't know 9-0, but heard it was boutique-ish. I am sure it is nice. what is the location? you want to be central to newbury, north end, near the T and great restaurants and all the other stuff, I am sure. i like the millenium at fanueil hall since it is central. my parents always stay at the ritz if you can get a good rate, it is worth it and great location. omni is nice and central right off the common. parents have stayed there. rooms are a bit old, but it has been a while since they stayed there. lenox is old and not the most central, but boston is SO small that it doesn't really matter where you stay. you walk anywhere at anytime, except - take the red line to harvard square.

my dad stayed at millenium just last week and really liked it. good luck, have fun and make sure you eat in the north end! walk there in the early AM, too and graba cappucino withe the locals. :)

The Lenox is right on Boyleston - excellent location in the Back Bay but further from the North End. Nine Zero is on Tremont St. across from the Park Street Church and the Common. Saw it recently on Great Hotels on the Travel Channel. Close to the Back Bay, North End and Quincy Market. Omni Parker is down the street from Nine Zero.

The Lenox is a more traditionally styled hotel that has recently been renovated. Lots of friends have stayed and love it. Nine Zero is a very new boutique hotel with trendy interiors. Don't know anyone who had stayed. So pick between these two based on whether you prefer trendy or traditional. Both have websites that have lots of pictures.

Forget the Omni Parker - its tired.

Of the ones you named, I would choose the Lenox. The Back Bay location is great. The Nine Zero would be okay if you wanted to be closer to the theatre district, but I wouldn't want to be. I haven't stayed there, but I don't like boutique trendy hotels as much as others do. My favorite would be the Four Seasons (though probably more expensive), the Meridian is nice as long as you get an upgraded room. For views, I would try the Seaport Hotel or Marriott Custom House,(with the right room). The Seaport is a little out of the way. There are so many nice hotels in Boston, but the Parker House is not one of them.

We happen to love the Parker House, though some of the rooms are "compact". Service is absolutely the best I've experienced anywhere, throughout the hotel.

The Lenox is fabulously located if you plan to spend most of your time in the Back Bay/Copley Square area.

Nine-Zero is sleek and modern to the max. Everything is brand new and hi-tech.

But, since I discovered Priceline and Hotwire, that's the only way I book. You can hardly go wrong with 4* and above. I have never been disappointed. And, the difference in rates pays for the overnight parking and then some...

I almost forgot, a few years ago, we stayed in a "Family" room at the Park Plaza. It was absolutely unacceptable. It was the end of April, and about 90 degrees in the room. When we asked if they could fix the problem, an engineer came to the room and opened the windows. The room overlooked other rooms, and very drab and ugly view. The pigeons enjoyed my open window, and kept coming to the sill, though did not enter. Lots of other problems. The room was expensive. I understand that they had better rooms in the hotel, but they were totally booked. The next day we moved to GuestQuarter (?) suites. Not a good location, but nice hotel with shuttle service to tourist areas. I think Park Plaza may be 4 stars.

Nine-Zero is very nice. While it is not on Boylston or Newbury it is within steps of the Boston Common and an easy walk to both theater district and shopping on Newbury. Also the Green Line is within steps to take you anywhere in town. If your budget can accommodate it Beacon XVI is also really nice. Another place to consider is the Elliot Suites Hotel - large rooms and very nice, good location. Parker House should be avoided. Four Seasons and Ritz are as you would expect.
