Boston Hotel in $200-275 Range?
 

I am surprised by the high hotel prices in Boston. Does anyone know of a B&B or smaller inn in the Back Bay area. I am also up against Parent's weekend at Boston Univ. So this is creating problems. I would like to spend under $300 a night.

I'm surprised by the prices you mention. My parents come visit a number of times during the year on weekends. If you are not married to Back Bay, look at the Millenium (but ask for a room not facing Haymarket) and the Marriott Longwharf. You should be able to find something.

Did you try Priceline.(Bidding section) Back Bay is under the Copley section. WE got the Westin at a great price.

Newbury Guest House on Newbury St.

Loved the Charlesmark Hotel on Newbury in Back Bay!

The Charlesmark and Newbury Guest House do not have openings for the time I need (Oct. 12-15). Any other ideas out there?

You are right and even I am surprised by rates that weekend - I just checked on Travelocity entering Back Bay, Downtown and Cambridge and hotels are few and expensive - it is also Columbus day weekend, another really popular time to visit Boston. You may be stuck with only expensive options.

As someone mentioned earlier don't give up until you try PriceLine.

Millenium Bostonian is close to $300 on quikbook (smaller rooms...one queen bed.) It's over by Fanuel Hall but there is good access to the T. Don't know what the price is directly booking with the hotel but check if interested.

I am very uneasy about bidding on Priceline. Can anyone educate me on the best way to approach this?

I just heard back from 82 Chandler Street B&B. They have availability. One night in one room and 2 nights in another room for $165. Has anyone stayed there? I have not reserved yet.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police is meeting in Boston from the 13-20. Approximately 10k people are expected.

You don't have anything to lose by bidding on PriceLine. If you specify the area and stick to four star you are OK. Because it is a busy time you may not have as much luck with the price but I would start with something lower than you are prepared to pay( but not too much lower as it is a busy time). I don't know all of the areas but in the bidding section they give you the areas along with a map you can click on to expand it. I always choose Copley which is the Back Bay area and the hotels there are all excellent. If you decide on sticking to the one area don't be put off by them saying you have a better chance if you choose more than one location. If you don't care and know the other areas you can always come back and bid on them separately. I don't know when you are planning on being there so you need time in between bidding if your first bid is not accepted. I am not sure of the waiting time now - someone else jump in here if you know. However, if your first bid isn't accepted you can always bid again for a different star level or different area immediately. Three star in Copley would still be good. Do your homework on the areas first. Go to PriceLine and choose Boston and go right to the bidding section and check out the areas offered there. Good Luck with it. They haven't let me down yet. The only problem may be that it is so busy at the time you are going to be there that the deals may not be as great.
