Boston Hotel for fireworks viewing-next year

I have always wanted to see the fireworks in Boston...with the TV on for the music of the Pops orchestra (they broadcast it live) from a comfy hotel room. No crowds, no nightmare traffic. Can any of you in Boston (or familiar w/Boston) tell me the best hotel on the Charles for this??

Probably the Cambridge Hyatt. It overlooks the Charles.

I would go with this Sonesta in Cambridge. http://www.royalsonestaboston.com/?cid=goo

There is going to be a new Hotel open June 2007, the Charles Street Jail Hotel, I'm sure the top floors will have a great view, It will be VERY expensive.

Thank you wyatt & TKT. Do you know which one is closest to where they light the fireworks? And how expensive is VERY expensive??

It isn't open yet, but I wouldn't expect anything under 300 for a luxury Hotel on July 4th.

i second the recommendation for the royal sonesta.
1-don't have to drive into downtown boston, the worst place on earth to park
2 - galleria across the street one way, museum of science down the street the other way,
3 - the view of the charles is "upriver" and completely unobstructed and utterly delightful.
4 - simple elegance for a great price
5 - it's a great location for embarking on restaurant adventures, a favorite pasttime of mine

i bet there are some clever people who watch from the large outdoor terrace off the cafeteria inside the museum of science. if you're out there, speak up and let us know!

Thanks corwin. After looking at the link TKT provided and the details you gave I realized I stayed there last September! It is very nice and our room had a river view. We had a devil of a time getting to the hotel. One of those "you can't get there from here" things. Next time will be easier I hope.
