Boston hotel & transportation
 

Our group of five will be spending one night in Boston after time in Salem. We have 6 am flight. I'm hoping to find hotel near downtown Boston that offers airport shuttle early enough OR is it possible to stay downtown and catch taxi from hotel to airport st 3 am? Hotel will to pay up to $300 I understand it would need to be two taxis but wondering if $14 is accurate.
- after buying train ticket in salem is it good for trail in Boston that entire day or just direct trip?
-is Boston walkable for the time we have or should we invest in the the $12 day pass?
- if we book near airport will train from salem stop near airport?
- any recommendations for Boston?
- any recommendations for three nights in Salem?
- I saw hotel in Boston w 2 kings and thought I saved it but can't find it- anyone familiar??

I don't think there is any downtown Boston hotel that offers airport shuttles. There are a few airport hotels that offer shuttles to the terminals but I would check with the hotel to see if they run that early. The ideal solution will be to call a taxi. The cost depends on where you are staying.

The train ticket from Salem is only good on that train. You need to pay separate fares for the subway in Boston. The train goes to North Station. Check www.mbta.com for the route planner to get where you need to go. The Orange Line and the Green Line are both at North Station.

Boston is very walkable but it all depends on where you are spending the night.

Three nights in Salem is long to me, but you must have found things to do for that amount of time. I highly recommend the Peabody Essex Museum, but I'm not interested in all those witch sites.

Check the Revere Hotel. Not sure if they have two king's or queen's but they have two large beds and the rooms are somewhat larger than many Boston hotels.

Consider staying at the Hilton at the airport. You can walk to your terminal from the hotel. Are you sure you have to leave or be there at 3 a.m. That seems awfully early to me. It would only take about 15 minutes from downtown Boston to the airport at that hour.

I don't think TSA at Logan opens until 4:30 am. One time I was worried about getting to Logan early enough for a very early flight so parked in Woburn and took 3:30 am Logan bus in ... and everyone else on the bus were TSA agents. Logan's website might say when TSA opens at each terminal. I know they suggest arriving 2 hours early.

I agree 3 nights in Salem is too much so would add a night in Boston. Although Boston is very walkable, it's also quite large. If you want to visit the North End and also window shop on Newbury Street or visit JFK library, I would take the subway. A one day pass is a good idea although for late night rides, my group of 4 prefers to use a cab.

I've booked the hilton and we plan to buy the $12 day pass for transportation. We are into the witchy stuff of Salem and the history, architecture, shopping etc so will stick with three days there. I'm looking at the Salem Inn. They have a family suite with kitchen etc. I like the Daniel House but can't find descriptions of rooms and when I called the woman was rather rude.. She does not book this far out but said they have a room for five.... Does anyone have experience with either or other suggestions for lodging in Salem? We would love a rental.

The $12 day pass will not cover commuter rail from Salem but is for subway and buses around the airport and Boston

Stay at waterfront Hyatt Boston Harbor at Logan Airport. There is a water taxi out front to take you across to downtown for dinner. Also their shuttle can take you to a nearby train.Their shuttle will take you to the terminal for flight in the morning.
