For when? Not that it matters. Boston is a very expensive hotel town-- that rate is almost impossible to find for a nice, centrally-located hotel. And if you find that rate for a hotel, chances are it will be a motel in a questionable-to-dangerous village far from the center of Boston. Here are a couple of choices off the top of my head:

-- Priceline.
-- Newbury Guest House. In the heart of the Back Bay. Close to everything. It's homey, closer to a B&B in feel, very comfortable. The problem? It's reasonably priced and books up several weeks in advance.

janiekins is being a bit blunt, but she's right. Good luck to you-- you'll need it!

No personal experience w/ this place, however saw the link on another thread seeking reasonably priced accommadations. They don't have alot of rooms, but maybe you'll luck out.

Another place that may be in that price range (depending upon time of year) is the John Hancock Hotel & Conference Center --- http://www.jhcenter.com/
It's clientele is primarily the business crowd; for the location/price, it's a decent choice.

I used to live in Boston and have friends in the hotel biz there and really the only chance you have of getting a rate of $150 in an area where you would want to stay is to go in January. You may have some luck during the rest of the year with priceline or hotwire but it is rare to find a rate under $200.

travelgirl's friends in the hotel biz have aparently not heard of Priceline, where all sorts of hotels in Boston are won for bids that rarely go over $100.

We rented an appartment and it was great. It was on Beacon St. two blocks from Cheers Bar, great location.
