Boston Driving Services

I posted this in US forum and trip ideas:

A pal with a physical problem and not much travel experience is looking to go to a wedding in Somerville, Mass. She would need a driver to and from the airport, and to and from the wedding. She will check with her concierge, but I told her I ask for firsthand info from my Fields Friends! TIA.

is there a reason she can’t use Lyft or Uber? Very simple and can be arranged ahead.

I don't know how she feels about Uber/Lyft but that is a good idea, jubi, thanks. I'll suggest it.

Does she need to accommodate a wheelchair, motorized mobility scooter, or walker? That might change whether Uber/Lyft make sense.

Good point, schlegal1, but not that I know of.

It would be great if there's a service like Welcome Pickup which I used in Paris and was recommended by my hotel. The sevice tracks your flight and driver is waiting outside baggage to help with liggage. We have used Uber to get from suburban air B&B to dowtown Boston and was happy with it.

Neat idea, dfrosty. Was it expensive?

i think the regular cab rate from Paris airport was $50. Welcome Pickup was $75. Well worth the small splurge for an hour cab ride.

Personally, from Logan, I would probably just grab a taxi at the terminal.
Perhaps the wedding organizer has arrangements for transportation.

Thanks, Dfrost.<br /><br />Is there a flat taxi rate from Logan, Sassafrass? There wasn't when I visited. If there was a traffic problem, the taxi meter kept going. <span style="color:#2980b9;"><em><strong>"Perhaps the wedding organizer has arrangements for transportation.".</strong></em></span>.... I don't know if my friend would want to add more last-minute chores but will mention it.<br /><br />Edited to add that I just read the Somerville taxi link and see flat rate!
