Boston downtown to Quincy

Does the T travel from downtown to Quincy? My husband has a conference in Quincy and I'm going to tag along, but want to stay closer to the historic sites with more for me to do. Is there an easy way for him to travel back & forth or would we have to rent a car? Any downtown hotel suggestions for a relaxing yet fun getaway (for me at least). Price not a huge issue (under $300/night)

JoAnne- The MBTA Red Line can get you from Boston to Quincy. Don't rent a car!

Lots of hotels to consider- The Hotel Merdian in downtown Boston, The Bostonian in the Fanueil Hall area, the Ritz Carlton and the Four Seasons are both within walking distance to a T station.

Enjoy!

The Red line of the T does go to Quincy Center. If he needs to take a cab from there, they is a taxi stand where he can get one.

The Omni Parker House is right downtown near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Also nice are the Westin and Sheraton in Copley, which is near the upscale Newbury Street Shopping District (lots of day spas, too).

There isn't any need to rent a car in Boston-I lived here for 10 years without one.

Yes, the T travels through Quincy. The Red Line has stops in N. Quincy, Wollaston, Quincy Center, and at Quincy Adams on the southern end of town. Where in Quincy is the conference?
www.mbta.com

Quincy is also well-served by bus lines that mostly originate at the Red Line subway stops; you can find out about these at www.mbta.com, too. Or contact the location of the conference, they must deal with this question all the time.

Right in Quincy, don't overlook the Adams houses, which are a 5-minute walk from the Quincy Center Red Line station.

http://www.nps.gov/adam/

His conference is at the Boston Marriott Quincy. There was no info on their web site regarding a T stop nearby. I'll give them a call. Sometimes people on this board are more helpful than hotels so I wanted to get your opinions. Thanks everyone!

I think the MArriott runs as huttle to the closest "T" stop - QUINCY ADAMS...very easy jaunt into Boston from there.

Yes, the Quincy Adams stop is just over .10 mile from the Marriott. Depending upon the time he has to show up each morning, you may want to stay in Quincy and ride the T into Boston. My hotel recommendations would be Le Meridien or the Omni Parker House. But, if Hotwire has a great rate for any 4-1/2 star on your dates (Le Meridien comes up a lot), you can't go wrong.
