Boston central: current snowfall conditions underfoot?

I'm sorry to ask again about the weather but I need to know whether to pack footware (wellington boots/snowboots)to tackle snowy/icy/slippery sidewalk conditions in central Boston on saturday and sunday or whether we will be okay in sturdy, reasonably waterproof, boots or trainers. According to the forecast there is no more snow due after early afternoon today. Friday will be partly cloudy/sunny with highs of 48, saturday mostly cloudy highs of 45. We are arriving late friday night. I am really hoping to avoid packing/wearing heavy boots - do you think the sidewalks be clear of snow/ice by saturday? Thanks.

Trainers will be fine. Yesterday, the forecasts called for 6 inches of snow, but all we got was a half-inch of slush which has already disappeared without any attention from us. The sidewalks are clear and dry. That spring sun is doing its work!

Hi hedgehog - don't worry about the snow it's been melting nicely the last few days and even the snowfall last night is disappearing already. It didn't really setttle it was a nice 'wet snow'

Boots aren't neccesary, don't worry it's not icy.

Have fun

Hoorah! Thank you for such prompt replies I am greatly relieved :-). It's very warm and spring-like here in the UK - I was not looking forward to snow again.

Don't worry, from conversations I've had with family in the UK the last couple of days, we've had the same kind of weather, beautifully springlike.

We just have snow on the ground :-)

No heavy boots. But the ground will be sloppy - water in potholes, possibly puddles at curbs. Main thing is that you have a change of shoes with you in case they get wet. When you asked about a week ago about long-range forecasts, we told you it was too far away. Now that weekend is closer, they are predicting temperatures around 50. It will likely be windy - it usually is in spring.

Again - they remove snow within 24 hours from it falling from sky - it is the melting mess that can be sloppy.

Have a good trip.

As yesterday's forecast showed, they can't even do 12 hours accurately.
