Thanks, escargot and kealalani. Boston really is a beautiful city, one with much to do. I have done "one" report before so I know what it takes. I plan to do a short write-up for the family, and happy to post it here. It may just take me 3-4 weeks because I will be on the road (business) for the next couple weeks.
The emergency lane open at rush hours, still, seems pretty weird to me. I am glad our rental Chevy Aveo didn't breakdown because we were discussing who plays what on a-car-slamming-into-you dodge-ball if in the "emergency" lane :) Also, we were driving at 70-75 mph and had people zipping past us on the right, within the emergency lane!! I think one basic problem is the complete and utter dependence of our society on cars (even in Boston which has such a fantastic subway system) but that is a topic much discussed, and not exactly appropriate here. Okay, I will be back in couple weeks or so. |
ttt for carlota.

I am going to look into ths area for my great escape this summer!

There is no place like Nantucket Island.
|
Here are some of our favorites on Nantucket: Activities: Ride a bike to and from Sconset. Have lunch and dinner there. The buses carry bikes in the front for a couple dollars...flag them, if you get tired, and they will stop. Good entertainment at the Chicken Box, good company at LoLa41, The Club Car. See a play (there is always something going on at the theater). See the stars at night through the Maria Mitchell telescopes (we do that every year)...breathtaking views of the night sky. Sunset at Madaket Beach. Rent scooters. The homemade cranberry icecream. The sandwiches at Something Natural are the best, or Blue Water Bakery? (something like that). Rent a Jeep and drive on the beach, then have a picnic. There are beautiful galleries, visit all of them, Enjoy the best food (particularly the garlic fries at Le Languedoc downstairs). Sconset Beach and cottages are unforgettable. Dine: American Seasons, http://www.americanseasons.com/Le Languedoc, http://www.lelanguedoc.com/ Topper's at the Wauwinet, Black Eyed Susan's. Stay: Century House bed and breakfast, http//:www.centuryhouse.com or Hotel Cliffside http://www.cliffsidebeach.com/. Both are in a great location. Hope that helps. |
Great suggestions Islandtraveler!
