I say beantown, as I grew up eating them. I wish I had my mom's old beanpot but only have an old Durgn Park one. In early years I would buy them for gifts to friends in Europe but they were very inexpensive back in those days

I agree with all the suggestions, but the little candy that is sold in airports and gift shops, especially around Fanueil Hall, is the BBB that everyone brings home as a souvenir. They were a kid favourite. To eat them for real, Durgin Park.

About 15 years ago we went to a party where the host had hired a caterer out of NH who specialized in baked beans that were cooked overnight in a firepit dug into the ground and covered. Cooked all night and there was a big unveiling that was the highlight of the party. I am not a fan of baked beans but those who did partake loved them.

And it is true that on the North Shore many breakfast places offer baked beans as a side instead of hash browns.
