Boston back bay stations info
 

I will be staying in Milford for several days in a couple of weeks. Question is I would like to take train into Boston in the afternoon or evening. I can catch the train at Forge park and get off at back bay station. Question, is it safe to walk from back bay station to Copley square area and how close is the subway station to the back bay station. On the same line some trains only go to south station so same questions for south station. Any info on getting around when downtown would be greatly appreciated.

Back Bay station is only a couple blocks away from Copley Square. The area is fine. Just exercise caution and common sense as you would in any city. Back Bay station also doubles as a subway station-the orange line. <BR>Regarding South Station, if you're intent is to hang out in the Back Bay, then you'll be a little out of the way, so take the trains that stop at Back Bay if at all possible.<BR>The MBTA has a great website. No problem. I take train every day from Framingham into Back Bay and then just walk the 2 blocks to Copley T station. Very safe, but bm right- just use same caution you would in any big city.<BR><BR>Also- you may want to check train schedule from Framingham. Framingham may be a little farther from Milford than Forge Park (but not by much) and the Framingham scheduel may be alot more flexible for your purposes, it is pretty well traveled. <BR><BR>Also- be aware that if you buy your ticket on the train during "peak" (rush hour) period, there is a surcharge. Try to get it in advnace if possible. Not sure where to buy it in Franklin (Forge Park) but in Framingham you can buy it diagnolly across the street from the station at a little smoke shop called "Garbarino's". <BR><BR>Good luck & have fun!

THE AREA IS AS SAFE OR SAFER THAN ANYWHERE IN THE us. yOU come out across the street from Neiman Marcus, if that gives a hint.
